Hello, Jung Hun. Welcome to planDisney! I'm happy to answer your question today.
You have discovered a great way to budget for a
Walt Disney World Resort visit:
Disney Gift Cards. I'll often ask for these puppies for holidays and birthdays, or I'll buy a few gift cards here and there to save for my vacation. Or both! And as a
Disney Visa Rewards Cardholder, I can often use some of my saved-up
Disney Rewards Dollars, too.
At this time, when you are purchasing through the
Walt Disney World Resort website, you can only use one gift card at a time. To use more, you would need to
call a friendly Cast Member at the resort. While there currently isn't a toll-free number for Guests from Canada, I find the waits to be minimal most mornings if you call
right when the phone lines open, which is typically 7 a.m. EST.
There is also another option that might work for you, Jung Hun. If you are purchasing a vacation package, which includes a
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel room reservation
and theme park tickets booked together,
you are usually only required to put down a deposit when you initially book (as long as you are reserving the package 31 days or more before the vacation starts). Then, you can make as many (or as few) payments as you want leading up to your vacation, as long as the entirety of the balance is paid off at least 30 days ahead of your visit. How does this help you? Well, you can likely make your initial reservation using one Disney Gift Card for the deposit. Then, simply make multiple payments after it's booked, one gift card at a time, to pay down the balance. Here's how you can usually do that:
- Once the vacation is booked, you can log into your MyDisney account and select "My Plans" from the My Disney Experience dropdown menu.
- Scroll down until you see your Disney Resorts Collection Hotel reservation. You should see a link to "Make a Payment." If you don't, sometimes logging out and logging back into your account helps.
- Follow the prompts to make your payment with your Disney Gift Card.
- Repeat as often as necessary!
Just note that making multiple payments leading up to your vacation typically applies to vacation packages only. Room-only reservations and
theme park tickets purchased separately have different policies and procedures.
Jung Hun, best wishes for your holiday visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. Be sure to stay tuned to
Disney Eats for announcements related to the festive treats that will likely be available for purchase when you visit. And feel free to
reach out to me again if you have any other questions!
It's so nice to take your coals off once in a while,
Matt
