Lisa from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I won tickets last year that expire on 12/15/20. If the park does not open before then or if it does but I cannot go, will the expiration date of my tickets get extended. These are one day peak time tickets. Thank you

    Welcome to planDisney, Lisa,

Congratulations on your pixie-dusted prize! I would be so excited to zip over to The Happiest Place on Earth to take in the magic of those special tickets. I’m so sorry that hasn’t been feasible for the past several months. Believe me, all of us here at planDisney are so anxious for the day that the Disneyland Resort theme parks and Disneyland Resort Hotels will be allowed to reopen. In the meantime, I’m glad that we at least have the recently reopened Downtown Disney District to help us get our Disney fix.

All of us have been hoping anxiously for news lately. Most of all, we hope for news from the State of California and the County of Orange about theme parks being allowed to reopen. And we also hope for more news about how existing theme park tickets might be handled after the theme parks reopen. Regarding theme park tickets, Disney has announced so far that certain promotional tickets, Canada resident tickets, Australia/New Zealand Resident tickets, and Military Salute tickets will have their expiration dates automatically extended. We don’t yet have an update on extensions for regular theme park tickets and other tickets, such as complimentary tickets. If that is not the happily-ever-after ending you were hoping for at this time, don’t give up yet! With a little faith, trust, and pixie dust, it will all work out in the end. I hope that the theme parks will be allowed to open again very soon. At the very least, I’m certain they are ready to do so safely when the government gives authorization!

You should also be aware that regular theme park tickets will retain their original value even after they expire. If that should happen with your tickets, you can take your tickets to one of the Main Entrance Ticket Booths (which are currently part of the temporary closure) to use the value of your expired tickets toward the price of new tickets. You would pay only the difference between the original ticket value and the current day price of the new ticket. If you have questions about the original value of your prize tickets, please call the Disneyland Resort ticket information line

I’m glad you stopped by planDisney, Lisa. We are happy to help with any other preparations you wish to make for your next visit to the Disneyland Resort. From dining recommendations to tips on maximizing your time in the theme parks, we are happy to help make your visit as magical as possible.

    See ya real soon!
