We were 2 wks away from our fabulous family vacay at WDW when my husband suffered a stroke. We were able change our reservation to March, but now we have to wait 5 more months. Do you have any suggestions to help us "keep the magic alive"?

    Hello, Franchesca!

Unfortunately, a few years back, our son had multiple strokes weeks before our Walt Disney World Resort vacation. We were not able to rebook immediately due to surgery, but as soon as doctors gave us the all clear, I started making reservations! There are several things that you can do while you wait:

First, start thinking about where you will eat! Beginning 180 days before your arrival, you can start making your advanced dining reservations. There are so many fantastic restaurants that I always start planning where I want to dine before planning which park to visit! We have found that table-service restaurants are best for our meals. Although we love a good buffet, navigating a stroller-wheelchair and plates of food can be tough. 'Ohana for breakfast or lunch at Tony's Town Square are perfect for us.

Second, FastPasses! If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, then you can begin reserving FastPass+ experiences up to 60 days before your visit. My son loves to help us make a list of attractions he wants to ride so when our window opens we are ready. You can reserve up to 3 experiences per day in one park before your arrival, and once you redeem those you can obtain more one-at-a-time until the park closes for the day.

Finally, Disney Gift Cards! Each week I buy a gift card or two as part of my grocery list. (Please don't tell my husband why my grocery budget is so high!) I can combine them into one card (up to $1000) and then use them during our visit.
My space is limited, but I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have additional questions while you wait!
