Is it wise to purchase park tickets for check in/out day? We'll be driving (around 16 hours each way) and I'm thinking we'll be too exhausted to do anything the first day...plus check in is at 4pm and check out at 11am.

We never use park passes on check in or check out day. We have arrived via airplane (including flight delays) as well as driven 16 hours to WDW many times. Both modes of travel make for an exhausting journey and we've found it's better to use our first evening to enjoy our resort, maybe have a nice dinner and get to bed early in order to enjoy the next morning's touring plans.

On our last day if we are flying home, we typically shop at Downtown Disney (sometimes) as well as swim/relax at our resort.

If we are driving, we usually get an early start on the road.
