Hi Edward,
Test Track is entirely new and much more interactive than before. The only thing that remains the same is the actual track the cars run on.
The previous theme was industrial with an emphasis on how cars are tested for safety and durability. Remember the pounding hammers and the test dummy parts? Those are gone, along with the talk of anti-lock brakes and the robots that performed the corrosive test.
The new theme is all about design and concept. Kiosks in the queues allow guests, if they choose,, to design their own virtual cars, adding features to make them faster or sleeker.
As you ride, you can monitor how your design compares with that of others in your car, if that’s your interest. My husband is a car guy; he’s into that. Me, I skipped it because I just like to go fast.
The realistic interior is history. The new design is all black, neon and sleek. It feels like riding through a video game. I thought the speed felt faster, too, but it’s probably an illusion caused by the motion lighting.
Maybe the biggest change is the after-show. There are still new cars to ogle (again, my husband’s idea of heaven). But there are also interactive stations here as well where you can see how well your concept car performed or make a commercial about your car.
It’s hard to even compare the new Test Track with the old one too closely. They are different experiences.
We knew the old Test Track so well, my family could practically recite the pre-show. I've ridden the New Test twice and enjoyed it. But I'm eager to ride it ride it again because I don't feel like I have fully taken in all the new features.
I hope you have a wonderful visit. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.
