Hey, howdy, hey, Kenneth, and welcome to planDisney. Walt Disney World Resort is 43 square miles so getting around can take a few moments. Not all of us move like Dash Par from Disney•Pixar's
The Incredibles so planning out the timing is what Tiggers like me do best.
We have stayed in
Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground & Resort several times and love the scenery, privacy, and relaxed feel of the Resort but there is a tradeoff: time. In my opinion, it is the fastest to take your own vehicle to every theme park except
Magic Kingdom Park. From your cabin/campsite to Magic Kingdom Park, you must take an internal bus to the Settlement Depot to catch the
Walt Disney World Bus Service or
Walt Disney World Water Transportation from the Marina directly to Magic Kingdom Park. Because you will go directly to the front gate of Magic Kingdom Park this route is faster than driving. When you drive you must park at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) which is the parking lot for Magic Kingdom Park. From there you must take the
Walt Disney World Monorail Transportation or the ferry boat to Magic Kingdom Park. Driving adds an unnecessary additional layer of transportation and time. It will take about 30 minutes using Disney transportation to get to Magic Kingdom Park and 45 to drive yourself.
EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park are all faster to travel to by driving since you get in your car and go directly from your campsite/cabin to the parking lot in front of the theme park. It will take an average of 10-15 minutes to get to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, and 15-20 minutes to arrive at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Also, know that theme park parking is included with your
Disney Resorts Collection stay.
planDisney Pro Tip 1: One other bit of advice regarding Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground & Resort. The
Tri-Circle-D Ranch is a hidden gem. There you can meet the horses that pull Main Steet, U.S.A. vehicles and the Cinderella pumpkin wedding carriage, trot along or in parade routes, and take Guests horseback riding. There are over 90 of these enchanted animals waiting to meet you. Do not miss this.
planDisney Pro Tip 2: Disney recommends you budget about 90 minutes of transportation time when traveling via Disney transportation, especially during busy times of the year. However, with the enhancements made in the transportation section of the
My Disney Experience app, I have found that 60 minutes tends to be a very safe number. If you have your own transportation or use
Disney Minnie Van Service Connected by Lyft then these numbers can be cut by one-third to one-half the amount of time.
Kenneth, please
write me back directly with any follow-up questions for your June Disney vacation.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
