How do you get from the Wilderness Cabins to the Wilderness Lodge. I made dinner reservations at the lodge our first night and didn't realize they are not as close to each other as I thought.

Hi Cheri! Fort Wilderness Cabins and the Wilderness Lodge can get confusing to many guests. In fact when we use a taxi service we always have to make sure they are aware of exactly where we need to go as we have ended up in the wrong place!

The two properties are close but it is definitely a walk between the two. There is actually a paved path that you can take to reach the lodge which is fun and often you can see many deer along the way. You can also use bikes on this pathway. It is about a mile so if the weather is good and you have the time it is fun. The trail begins across from the main stables next to Pioneer Hall and it will come out near the bus area of the Wilderness Lodge. I will suggest you not take this path at night as it is not lit at all.

Most guests will simply take the boat to go to Wilderness Lodge. They will be the small boats on the right side of the marina dock and leave about every 15-20 minutes starting at 6:45am until two hours after the park closes. This boat stops at both the Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge resorts which makes it very convenient to reach both for dining and recreation reasons. When staying in the cabins simply hop on one of the internal buses and get off at Pioneer Hall and walk the short way to the marina. To return just retrace your steps. A boat trip to the Wilderness Lodge is about 10 minutes.

Have fun while staying at Fort Wilderness which is one of my favorite resorts on property!
