Ahoy there, Akshit, and welcome to planDisney! Your upcoming
Bahamian cruise on the
Disney Fantasy is less than a month away and I couldn’t be more excited for your adventure.
The “double dip” where you stop at both Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Cay is one of my favorite itineraries, so I wish I was going with you. Since I won’t be joining you, the next best thing is being able to help you plan your trip and discover some delicious dishes while on board.
I can confidently say that the chefs aboard Disney Cruise Line are some of the most accommodating I’ve ever encountered. Not only is my daughter a vegetarian, but last month I sailed with my fellow planDisney pal,
Kriss, who is also plant-based. I learned some incredibly helpful tips from her which I’m happy to pass on to you:
- You can identify yourself as a vegetarian when you book your cruise. If you’ve already booked (which it sounds like you have), go into “My Reservations” and add your dietary preference through the
Special Requests application at no extra charge. It’s recommended you do this at least 3 days before your sailing.
- Speak to your Lead Server on the first night of your
rotational dining to confirm your specific dietary preferences. They can even bring you vegan-friendly bread and butter.
- You can always request to confer with one of the chefs at any of the dining locations on board.
- Look for the plant icon on the menu or at the buffet: it means a dish is created with no egg, milk, or other animal products.
- If you don’t see your favorite Disney dish, just ask if a plant-based version can be created for you. (For example, you can request vegan Mickey Waffles!)
- On the flip side, if you eat something you absolutely love at one of the rotational dining locations, chances are you can get it again the next night, even if you’re at another restaurant.
My family experienced that last tip firsthand. My daughter ate a quinoa dish that quickly became her favorite when we sailed on the Disney Wonder. The next evening, she couldn’t find a vegetarian option that tempted her taste buds in the same way. When our server noticed her dilemma, he remembered how much she loved the quinoa dish and offered to bring it to her again. She ended up eating it every night and still talks about how good it was.
Akshit, if you’re looking for some quick bites while on board, head to
Flo’s Café by the pool where you’ll even find plant-based pizza, burger, and sandwich options. Kriss said one of her favorite meals was the plant-based sausage and tomato pizza (each time she asked for it, they gave her a whole pizza!). And for a decadent dessert, head to
Sweet on You where they also offer vegan ice cream (at an additional cost).
I hope this wets your whistle for your upcoming trip. If you need more dining suggestions or have any more questions, don’t hesitate to visit us here at

Bon voyage,
