Karl, I love Walt Disney World’s
online check-in process, and use it every time I visit. I’ve had the same experience you’re describing on both of my most recent visits, where
My Disney Experience does not give me the option of selecting room preferences. Tech support suggests logging completely out of the app and then back in to see if it reappears, or uninstalling and re-installing the app if you’re using it on your mobile device. You can give the My Disney Experience Tech Support Cast Members a call at (407) 939-4357 for further assistance.
My suggestion is to call Walt Disney World Resort Reservations at (407) 939-1936 and asking the Cast Member you speak with to add your room requests to your reservation. This is what I’ve done both times, and I’ve been beyond pleased with my rooms on both trips.
