Me, my wife and 2 year old are staying at Grand Californian for her birthday. She will be 2 years old when arriving at the hotel on first day and then turns 3 on 2nd/final day at Disneyland. How should i buy park tickets if age changes during the trip?

    Oh boy, Brandon!

Welcome, and thank you for bringing your question to planDisney! I’m very excited to read that you and your princesses will be celebrating a birthday on your stay at The Happiest Place On Earth! What a treat! I can’t think of a more magical place to celebrate your little princess’ special day. Make sure you pick up a special birthday button for her at City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. to wear throughout your stay. That way, any cast member who sees you can send some extra pixie dust and well-wishes your way!

Brandon, have you downloaded the Disneyland Mobile App yet? You'll need it to scan your theme park tickets upon entry to the Disneyland Park, plus, familiarizing yourself with this app before you visit next month will help you make the most of the precious minutes of your day. You'll be able to manage wait times for most of the attractions, and also place mobile orders for meals, snacks & beverages to pick up with hardly any wait at all. You’ll be Astro-blasting standby time to infinity and beyond!

Based on your little princess’ age, she will only need a theme park ticket for entry on the last day of your trip. You can purchase this on the app. If you click on the icon of the three horizontal lines in the bottom left corner, then choose the “tickets and Passes” box on the top left, then click on the blue plus sign on the top right, a “Buy Tickets” icon will appear on the top left of your screen. This will take you to the admission ticket website where you should only need to purchase one for your daughter (if you have already purchased the tickets that you and your wife will need for your stay). Finally, you will just need to make a reservation for her birthday with that ticket.

Have you considered making a reservation for a character breakfast dining location, Brandon? I find that these are the best ways for our little Mouseketeers to meet Mickey & Friends in one place (and meanwhile, us Hungry Bears can satisfy our rumbly tummies!). The Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park at the Plaza Inn is popular, but since you’re staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, I wanted to share that my husband and I find the Storytellers Café to be one of the best buffets at the Disneyland Resort. I can’t wait to bring my little man-cub there soon to enjoy the famous Mickey Waffles. Meanwhile, I can savor the eggs benedict station while my husband can get his fill of chilaquiles too!

I can’t wait to hear about which adventures you and your cast of characters plan to get into, so feel free to come on back and let me know if you have any other questions now that you’ve got a friend in me. I love to share ways to keep tiny Mouseketeers comfortable and happy in the parks.

    See ya real soon,
    Danielle
