Hi there Joseph,
I want to give you and your family a very royal welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad that you asked this question for your trip coming up in March; my family and I don't often travel with a vehicle for our
Walt Disney World Resort vacations so I can definitely relate to looking for the most efficient and effective ways to get your family closer to the magic.
There are a few different modes of transportation that I always recommend to friends and family whenever they come to Orlando to head towards Walt Disney World Resort: shuttle and rideshare services.
If you're flying into Orlando International Airport, it's always a good idea to look into shuttle services like MEARS Connect or The Sunshine Flyer. We've had friends of ours take advantage of these shuttle services for their stay at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort and they loved how easy it was for their luggage to be taken care of, with ample signage and service at the airport on their arrival. Be aware that these offerings and services can always change, so I recommend checking them out early to confirm if their schedules work with the times you need, and also see if they have any updates or promotions. I often see these shuttle buses pulling in as I make my way around Walt Disney World Resort and they seem to be very popular with families!
However if you're like my family and prefer to travel lightly, we like to take advantage of rideshare services using our mobile devices as we head in and out of the Orlando area! As long as you're aware of the possibility of surge pricing during Spring Break in March, we've found this to be an option that may offer some flexibility and affordability for you.
Something we especially love about staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel without a vehicle is the variety of complimentary modes of transportation that you can choose to take each day from buses to boats and monorails! I'm excited to also let you know about one of my preferred forms of transportation:
Disney Skyliner. It'll be very convenient for your family to follow the signage from Disney's Art of Animation Resort to the nearby station and soar into the air on a gondola as it connects you to destinations like
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
Epcot. And if the timing's just right, there's an extra bit of magic seeing fireworks from the gondola as you soar back towards your resort hotel in the evening that I'm sure both of you and your son will enjoy seeing at the end of the day.
As I always say, the best thing to be sure of when you embark on any journey is knowing how you'll get there!
Wishing you well on your upcoming adventure,
Prince
