My wife and I have been to WDW several times but this will be my 2 year old son's first time. It will also be our first Christmas Eve at WDW. I want it to be extra special. What park or restaurant would you recommend for Christmas Eve?

    Jaime:

What I'd recommend and what you could actually book this close to Christmas Eve are two different things. In the Land of Perfect, I'd tell you to head for the Magic Kingdom and book a dinner at Crystal Palace or get a reservation at California Grill atop the nearby Contemporary Hotel. The Crystal Palace would offer your 2-year-old a delightful character experience and you could enjoy the fireworks that the Magic Kingdom provides. A special meal at California Grill is more for you, especially the extraordinary view.

But practicality seems to be my middle name, and the week of Christmas is an extremely busy week at the Magic Kingdom. However, my Mom's Panel pals tell me that Christmas Eve doesn't see the crowds of the rest of the week. Because there are currently no reservations at table restaurants in the Magic Kingdom, if your iconic trip includes this park, I'd recommend visiting one of the nearby resorts for a special meal, considering the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness to enjoy a show with singing and laughing that even your son could enjoy or Artist's Point at Wilderness Lodge, a meal more for the adults but a menu that is special.

Another option is to consider spending the evening at Epcot. Not only is this park larger and handles holiday crowds better, it also offers many more memorable restaurant options from Biergarten to Monsieur Paul to the Candlelight Processional Package at Via Napoli (my recommendation). Best of all, the fireworks will begin at 9:00 p.m. giving you enough time to head back to your resort and get snuggled down for a visit from Santa!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
