Hi Margaret, and welcome to planDisney.
I’m so glad you reached out with your question. With so much to see and experience at
Walt Disney World, it's wonderful to know you're planning ahead to ensure your wife can enjoy every moment comfortably. Disney has put a lot of thought into making the entire resort accessible, and that care shows in the many options available to help Guests navigate the parks and resorts.
Yes, electric scooters, also called
ECVs, as well as wheelchairs, are available for rent directly from Disney. You’ll find rental locations near the entrances of all four theme parks and at Disney Springs. Rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. While the daily rental fee allows for use at multiple parks in the same day, the scooter or wheelchair must be returned at the location where it was rented. If you're planning to park hop, just hang on to your receipt and present it at the next park to pick up a new one, based on availability.
If you think your wife may need her scooter beyond the theme parks, for example, while at your Disney Resort hotel or traveling to and from the parks, you might consider renting from a third-party provider. These companies can deliver a scooter directly to your hotel and pick it up at the end of your stay.
Disney has an approved provider they recommend, but there are a few others you’re welcome to explore so you can choose the one that fits your needs best.
And if you decide to go with an outside rental, you won’t need to worry about getting around. Nearly all of
Disney’s complimentary transportation options can accommodate scooters and wheelchairs, including the buses, monorail, ferryboats, and Disney Skyliner. It’s a great way to keep the day moving while giving your wife a comfortable and convenient experience throughout the resort.
I hope this helps you get one step closer to your upcoming visit. If you have any more questions, you know where to find me.
I’d be happy to help anytime.
Brent
