Just my wife and I will be visiting in mid May, should we book dining reservations or should we just experience short wait times, since it’s just the two of us? Visiting DS Epcot HS and MK.

Hello Jeffrey and welcome to planDisney!

A Mickey and Minnie trip! My wife and I love to visit Walt Disney World with our family and friends, but there is something special about a trip for two!

Nothing can stop us now, so let's get to the plan.  I would still make dining reservations for my trip.  The fewer decisions I must make when I’m on vacation, the better, so I like to have at least a tentative plan made before I head out of town.  This also allows me to make some early plans about which theme parks I want to visit each day and to daydream about how many Mickey Bars I’ll get to enjoy while I’m there!

I always make a note on my calendar when I am 60 days out of my hotel reservation.  Guests with a valid Disney Resort Hotel reservation can start making dining reservations at the 60-day mark and get the benefit of making reservations for the entire length of the stay up to a 10-night stay.  All other guests can make reservations 60 days out but just one day at a time.

I’ve found by having two people in my party that I've almost always had success at the 60-day mark getting reservations for my entire trip!

The My Disney Experience website and app allow you to modify or cancel any reservations that you might want to change later. Most table-service restaurants give you up to 2 hours before reservations time without being charged with a no-show fee.  There are exceptions, so check out the Disney Dining cancellation policies and the Disney Help Center for more information.

Now to the fun! Our go-to, never miss, always make time for, first reservation of the trip is: Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort! Ok, ok, I know, Ice Cream, Kitchen Sink, brain freeze.  But we really love to grab a late lunch and the food is delicious!  I always order Beaches & Cream Grilled Cheese and substitute onion rings with my order. It is not like the dull grilled cheese I slap together on my home stove top.  It is so good! My wife selects the French Dip Sandwich, and she raves about it for weeks after we get home!  I know I love my Mickey Bars, but at Beaches & Cream, it’s No Way Jose! Peanut butter, hot fudge, chocolate, oh my!  Yes, we share it!

Jeffrey, I hope you have a chance to savor your favorite food with your favorite person!  Nothing better than a Mickey and Minnie trip to the most magical place on earth! Have a great time!
