My wife and I will be visiting in February and March 2022. I have 2 questions: 1. Can we make reservations for Trader Sam's or is it going back to waitlist only? 2. Do I need a hotel reservation to explore the Disney hotels (lobbies, pools, etc.)?

Hi there Connor! Welcome to planDisney!

I can see you've discovered a classic Disneyland Resort favorite in Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar! Sam is currently taking reservations which can be made 60 days prior to arrival. Luckily, you are now within your booking window and reservations can be made online. As you likely know, many who travel to the Happiest Place on Earth enjoy a visit to Sam and his Enchanted Tiki Bar. I recommend trying to grab a reservation as soon as you can. There may be walk-up or same-day reservations available, but these are limited and not guaranteed, and the call of the Pago Pago is just too loud to miss!

If for some reason Trader Sam has booked all his tables for the day, I am hoping your trip overlaps with the return of the Disney California Adventure Park Food & Wine Festival! No dining reservations are required! Enjoy sights, sounds and tastes celebrating all things California! Take in a culinary demonstration and take home tips and secret recipes from Disney chefs. I just love recreating a little piece of the magic at home. If you're looking for something a little more unique, maybe consider adding on a Carthay Circle Winemaker Reception or Wine, Beer and Mixology Education and Tasting Seminar. Reservations for these special experiences have not yet been released, but Guest Services assured me they would be available soon! You'll be able to find them under dining reservations. I'm just so excited this festival is back this year - it's truly one-of-a-kind!

When it comes to the Disneyland Resort Hotels, you should be able to take a stroll through the lobby, eat at the restaurants and shop for gifts. When I was visiting the resort in December, I was in search of holiday decor and took a break from the parks to wander through both the Disneyland Hotel and the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. There are currently no requirements that you have hotel reservations to be on the property, however, pools are usually reserved just for guests.

Well, Connor, I truly hope you find yourself sipping some Krakatoa Punch very soon! If you have any other questions, we are always here for you at planDisney!

    ChEARS,
