me my wife and two sons age 9 and 6 booked a vacation for Disney in august everyone tells me this is the worse time to go because it is extremely hot there in august is that true?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Douglas ~

I have visited Disney World every month of the year including August for the past few years. What you are hearing is true regarding temperatures as August brings some really warm temperatures to Orlando. However, I love Disney and think visiting there any day, anytime during the year is awesome!

The average high temperature in August is in the low-90s and the average low is in the low-70s. They usually get a little over 6 inches of rain during the month of August. Be sure to pack ponchos or umbrellas and shoes that you don't mind getting wet and dries quickly. An afternoon thunderstorm is pretty common but it is usually short lived and you can resume your magical activities soon afterwards. Keep in mind that these are averages and check the 10-day forecast online before you finish your final packing.

There are ways to beat (or cope with) the heat.  Here are some suggestions on staying cool at Disney World that you may find helpful.

Please feel free to visit us with all of your planning questions. It is our pleasure to assist you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
