My wife & two daughters are coming to Orlando and are bringing our eldest daughter's boyfriend -who has never been to Disney before. We are looking to rope drop Magic Kingdom next Saturday (11th July 2026) What advice/help could you give us

How are ya, Chris, and welcome to planDisney

Introducing someone to the magic is such a special experience. Y'all are sort of acting as your daughter's boyfriend's Fairy God-Family while you show him the ropes. Since the ropes in question will be dropping at Magic Kingdom, I definitely have some suggestions to help make the dreams that you wish come true.

My first bit of advice actually starts before you even get to the parks. I'd suggest purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass for the entire family. Saving time spent waiting in line is almost always worth it for my family. In your My Disney Experience app, you'll be able to make 3 reservations at once and then, after scanning into your first one of the morning, you can add another as you go.

My next tip would be to arrive at the parks as early as you can. If you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry. If not, still plan to make it there as if you are. Guests are usually allowed into the parks, if not into the various lands. This is a great time to take in the sights and sounds of Main Street, U.S.A. Grab a coffee at Main Street Bakery and get those early morning photos before the day really kicks off.

Next, I'd recommend heading straight to a popular ride that you may not have a Lightning Lane for as soon as they drop those ropes. Try grabbing something that tends to have longer waits later in the day, like TRON Lightcycle/Run, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan's Flight, or Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Pro-tip: While the attractions are a blast, don't forget to make time for the other offerings that make the magic so sweet. The Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, Disney Starlight, The Dapper Dans, and so much more make The Most Magical Place on Earth sing and twinkle and shine as much as any ride.

Chris, have the best time with your family. And keep an eye on that boyfriend. Prince Charming just might fall in love with the magic, too. If you have any other questions, you know where to find me.

    Happy planning!
    Taylor
