My wife and I are thinking about taking our 1 year old daughter to Disney World for her birthday, we are wondering if there are any special things for us to do with her at that age? We are also wondering if this is a good age for us to bring her there?

Hi C. William!  I like to say there isn't one age that is better then the other when taking children to Walt Disney World. I have taken my own children and now my grandchildren on their first visit before they were one and have no regrets. A child that young will obviously not have the memory of the trip but you will experience a great joy in seeing the reactions to all the experiences you will share with her.  The photos will remain with you to share the story later on as she grows older and you will look forward to future trips  to experience more and more. My advice...if you have the opportunity then grab it and don't look back or listen to others. It is your time to have fun and be together no matter what age it is.

You will be able to carry your daughter on many of the attractions since she is so young. Just be aware of any that might have loud noises or darkness. The cast members at each one can describe the experience if you have questions.

Usually at that age the children will enjoy with caution the character experiences. You might want to try a character dining event for one meal. Don't push her to get close but let her take her time. Definitely order a cake for her birthday and let her go at it no matter what kind of mess it creates. She will only turn one once and she will likely become the entertainment in the restaraunt. Who can ignore a cute little girl turning one with cake all over her face!

Just enjoy the parks....Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom would be my top two choices. Take your time and document this special time with lots of photos from your own camera and certainly from the Photo Pass photographers!
