Hi there Joseph,
How exciting to be taking your granddaughter on her first Walt Disney World vacation! Based on the age of your granddaughter, I recommend visiting
Magic Kingdom Park. You will be amazed at just how many attractions a 5-year-old will be able to experience at the iconic park.
I recommend that you arrive at park opening in order to experience as many attractions as possible before the park becomes more crowded. I would also suggest that you book 3
FastPass+ selections in advance in order to decrease your wait for those particular attractions or experiences. My park planning strategy is to start the day in Fantasyland and then tour the park by "lands." I find this helps to maximize time and decrease the amount of unnecessary walking.
My list of "must do" attractions includes: "it's a small world", Peter Pan's Flight, Mickey's PhilharMagic, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales with Belle, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Don't miss Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade and Wishes nighttime spectacular. For optimal viewing, I suggest getting a seat along the parade route at least 45 minutes prior to the start of Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade.
I'm out of room for my answer, but please don't hesitate to reach out again with any additional questions that you may have. Best wishes for a magical first trip!
Happy Planing,
Jodie
