Ahoy, Richard!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You and your wife have chosen one of the most extraordinary itineraries to celebrate your anniversary on! I've had the opportunity to sail to Alaska twice aboard Disney Cruise Line and I can't wait to go back! Sailing through the fjord and seeing the lush Alaskan landscape on either side of the ship is a sight that you'll never forget.
One of my favorite Port Adventures is the
Best of Juneau! It truly is three Port Adventures in one. You'll begin this excursion whale watching aboard a catamaran; the tour operators actually guarantee that you'll see a whale! I'll always remember seeing multiple whales jumping out of the water when my family took this excursion. They were so close to our catamaran, we were amazed! Then, you'll head to a delicious lunch followed by a stop at the Mendenhall Glacier. Another Port Adventure that we've loved is the
Yukon Suspension Bridge, City and White Pass Railway in Skagway.
Packing for an Alaskan adventure can be tricky, but the
Packing List for Disney Cruises has some great ideas! Definitely plan on wearing layers. The day might start out chilly while visiting each port of call but warm up by the afternoon. You can easily take off your jacket or sweater and tie it around your waist. I also recommend packing a warm jacket, hat and gloves for the day sailing through Tracy Arm. As you're standing on deck in awe of the Sawyer Glaciers, you'll want to be bundled up!
Richard, if you and your wife have any other questions before your anniversary cruise, please come back and visit us again!
