My wife and I will be staying at Port Orleans-Riverside from 09/08/11-09/11/11. We will be visiting Epcot and Animal Kingdom. I like to read about the history of WDW parks. Can you recommend some books? Thanks, 57 days til WDW!

    Hi Edward!

Port Orleans Riverside is absolutely stunning!  The beautiful mansions, lush landscaping and secluded walkways truly add to its appeal.  I highly recommend visiting portorleans.org for fabulous information on your upcoming home away from home!

As you are two adults without children on this trip, I think that Epcot and Animal Kingdom are ideal for your vacation!  These two parks tend to be the most educational and I always walk away with newfound knowledge when I take the time to explore these two gems.

Reading is a passion of mine and naturally, I have TONS of books on Walt Disney World and its history.  I checked on Amazon.com before recommending these books, just to ensure that they were still in circulation.  First, I love  Walt Disney Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look At Making the Magic Real, written by The Imagineers.  I originally bought this book because I loved the photos, but it was a great read as well!  It covers all four of the major parks, but for something more specific, why not try out The Making Of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park by Melody Malmberg.  I admit that I haven't read this one cover to cover, but it is on my must read list!  I'm really excited to share this next book, as it covers EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know about Epcot.  The Epcot Explorer's Encyclopedia: A guide to the flora, fauna, and fun of the world's greatest theme park! is written by R.A. Pederson.  Happy Reading!
