Howdy, Jorge.
I'm always happy to rustle up an answer for a fellow Texan, so thanks for boot-scooting by planDisney. It looks like your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just days away, so let that final countdown commence!
First, I hope your wife’s surgery goes as planned and wish her the speediest recovery possible. I think starting that recovery journey in The Most Magical Place on Earth is a brilliant idea to boost her spirits, but I completely understand wanting to make sure she is as safe as possible while on your vacation. You have the option of renting a
wheelchair or
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) should she need one during your stay. You might also look at the list of attractions on the interactive map in your
My Disney Experience mobile app to see if there is anything she could potentially partake in. Just click “Filter” at the top-left of the map and scroll down to filter the results by “Physical Considerations” and “Mobility Disabilities” according to her specific needs. Of course, it is still best to check with her doctor first and follow their orders.
Unfortunately, even though your wife won’t be able to experience all of the attractions the theme parks have to offer, there is not a discounted ticket available for Guests in her situation. She would still need to pay the same price for her ticket as any other adult Guest. I know that’s not what you were hoping to hear, but there is still plenty for her to partake in. In the interactive map, you can also view
Character Experiences and
Entertainment offerings by selecting the appropriate categories from the drop-down menu at the top-middle of the map. If you purchase
Disney Genie+ service during your trip, she can tune in to the Audio Tales that are included. They are a sort of in-app tour guide that tells the history of the parks at key locations and can be found on the “My Day” feature in the app.
Jorge, I hope this information helps. If you have further questions, please stop back by planDisney and let me lasso up another answer for you.
Happy trails to you,
Alyssa
