My wife and I are returning to Disney for our 5 year anniversary. We have decided to do the Carriage Ride at Ft WIlderness lodge this trip. We're visiting EPCOT that day and I am wondering how long it will take/the best way to get from the park to the ride

    Hi Joshua,

It sounds like you have a romantic anniversary trip planned! My husband and I have celebrated many anniversaries at Walt Disney World, including our 25th last year, but we've never done the carriage ride. Maybe I should put that on our list for No. 26.

From Epcot, you have a few options, including bus, monorail, boat and taxi.

You can take the bus to Fort Wilderness from the station near the Epcot entrance. The ride will take 15 minutes or so, but you need to allow time to get from the bus stop to the carriage ride departure site near Crockett's Tavern.

You also can take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, a ride of about 15 minutes, then catch a water taxi from Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness. The boat ride is less than 10 minute, and you will arrive a short stroll from your destination.

Eiher way, I would plan to leave Epcot at least an hour before your carriage appointment, maybe a little more. You don't want to spoil the romantic mood by being stressed about missing your ride!

Another quicker alternative is to take a cab from Epcot to Fort Wilderness. My husband and I did this recently when we worried about missing our dinner reservation at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge for his birthday.

Cabs are readily available near the buses outside the Epcot gates. The ride to Wilderness Lodge is comparable to the ride to Fort Wilderness. It took us about 15 minutes and cost less than $20, including tip.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can answer any other planning questions. Enjoy your trip and best wishes for many, many more anniversary celebrations in the future!
