Hey there, Jeffrey! I'm so sorry to hear about your wife's ankle injury - sending some pixie dust her way for a speedy recovery!
Mickey and Minnie work hard to make sure all Guests are comfortable, safe, and, of course, having a magical time at the Happiest Place on Earth. You'll find there are some convenient options open to your family to ensure your wife is able to move about the parks. Both
wheelchairs and Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECV) are available for rent just to the right outside of the Main Entrance Gates of
Disneyland Park. Rentals open about one hour before park opening and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so I recommend getting there on the early side! If you have any questions, you can give the Disability Services Cast Members a call at (407) 560-2547.
Access to attractions will vary as some will allow guests to remain in a wheelchair or EVC, some will require the Guest to transfer from an EVC to a wheelchair, some will require the Guest to transfer to the attraction vehicle with assistance from Cast Members and family members, and some will require the Guest to be ambulatory. What I love about Disneyland Resort is that each attraction is clearly marked within the
Disneyland Mobile App and on the physical maps available at each park entrance so that you know well ahead of time what to expect when it comes to transferring to the ride vehicle. Within the app, simply click into an attraction and scroll down to "Accessibility & Other Information". Tap on the down arrow and you will see the access method.
Alternatively, you can tap into Genie's phenomenal cosmic powers ahead of your visit and spend a little time with the new
Disney Genie Service. This complimentary service allows you to tell Genie all your favorite things to do, your interests, and even your accessibility requirements and ... POOF! On the morning of your visit, he will load a personalized itinerary just for your party and make live updates throughout the day. It's a whole new world of Disney planning! To begin, open up the app and click on the "+" in the bottom navigation bar. Tap into "View My Genie Day and Tip Board" and then toggle to "My Day" at the top. Click on "Get Started Now" and Genie will walk you through the process. All you need to do is get ready for your magic carpet ride!
Jeffrey, there is so much magic in store for you and your family! I know this was a lot to take in so if you have any questions, you know where to find us here at
planDisney!
See ya real soon!
