My wife and I purchased three day California Adventure Park Tickets - as retirees our life schedule has hit a snag and we are unable to use the tickets - can they be cancelled and refunded?

Hey there, Keith! I am so glad you stopped by planDisney with this question! Welcome, and let’s get right to it.

I am so sorry to hear about the snag in your plans and that you will not be able to visit Disneyland Resort as originally planned. I have had a few trips that I have had to cancel or postpone, so I know the disappointment you are probably feeling.

Unfortunately, Disneyland tickets are not refundable, as outlined in the terms and conditions. That said, there is still some good news! You do have a couple of options that allow you to hold on to the value of your tickets rather than letting that Disney magic slip away. I am happy to walk you through them!

A wholly unused ticket can be applied toward the cost of a higher tier Disneyland ticket or a Magic Key pass. You would need pay the difference between the value of your current ticket and the new ticket or pass you choose. This is a great way to extend your visit window, since tickets purchased now have an expiration date of January 12, 2027. That is a nice extension from the current May 21, 2026 expiration date associated with the California Resident Ticket.

Upgrading to a Magic Key annual pass is a great way to extend magic! There are several pass levels offered, and you have up to one year from the date of purchase to activate it. Once you scan into the parks for the first time, your Magic Key is valid for a full year of visits, memories, and pixie-dusted fun. Magic Keys are currently available for purchase, though that can change at any time.

Now for the slightly sticky part. In order to upgrade a wholly unused ticket, you will need to visit a Disneyland Resort ticket booth in person. This could be a fun excuse to pop by the resort, take care of the upgrade, and enjoy a little time exploring the Downtown Disney District shops or grabbing a bite to eat.

Keith, I hope this helps bring some clarity and peace of mind as you decide how best to use the value of your tickets. If you have any other questions, please feel free to stop back by planDisney anytime! We are here to help!
