Hello! My wife and I are planning to visit Disney World this December—without children. What would you suggest for two adults who enjoy good food, taking photos with the characters, and attractions that aren't too intense?

Hi, Fernando, and welcome to planDisney! You've come to the right place because adults-only trips are my specialty. As a self-proclaimed Disney Adult without kids, I can confidently say a Walt Disney World vacation is every bit as magical for adults as it is for kids. I'm so glad you've asked this question because I have some ideas for you.

You'll be visiting during the merriest season of all, and that means extra fun! Consider one or both of the extra ticketed holiday events, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Both offer party-exclusive food items and drinks for purchase, and Jollywood Nights has some festive alcoholic beverages as well. The Sugar Cookie Martini still lives rent-free in my head. Special entertainment and shows are featured at both parties, too, including fireworks. Extra festive character meet and greets can also be found at both parties. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is where you'll find classic characters in their holiday attire, while you'll find more rare characters at Jollywood Nights. In the past, Memory Maker during the party has been included in Jollywood Nights, which might be important to you since taking photos with characters is a priority for you.

If you have time, I recommend taking a day to visit several of the Disney Resorts Collection hotels to see the beautiful holiday decorations. Make a dining reservation at one of the restaurants to cap off your day with a nice meal. For example, you could visit Disney's Wilderness Lodge, which is not only my favorite resort, it has the most beautiful Christmas tree on property, in my opinion. Then, have dinner at Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White to visit with some of the characters from the Disney classic.

Included in your theme park admission, EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays will be going on during your visit as well. There will be food booths to sample unique holiday cuisine from all over the world for an extra charge. One of my favorite parts of this is the Cookie Stroll. After purchasing a certain number of cookies included on the stroll, you get an extra treat for free. I also really love the storytellers in each country, and the Candlelight Processional is not to be missed, in my opinion. I recommend the Dining Package for guaranteed seating. The last time I went, I chose Le Cellier in the Canada pavilion, and it was the best meal of my trip. You can easily spend a day enjoying all the festival has to offer.

For attractions that aren't too intense, my favorites are Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, Toy Story Midway Mania at Hollywood Studios, Kilimanjaro Safaris at Animal Kingdom and Living with the Land at EPCOT. Even better, Living with the Land has had a holiday overlay in the past, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed it returns for this year.

I hope this gives you a place to start with your planning, Fernando. Please visit us again soon with any other planning questions you have.

    Let your dreams guide you!
