Hi, Matthew!
Welcoming 2019 at the Happiest Place on Earth sounds like an amazing way to kick off a new year. The
Disneyland Resort theme parks will stay open later than usual and offer extra entertainment, like live performances and special
fireworks shows, so it’s sure to be an exciting night! Countdown dance parties usually happen in multiple locations throughout both parks, adding to the lively ambiance.
Realistically, Disneyland Park may indeed reach capacity, and often does so as early as noon on New Year’s Eve. Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests can take advantage of any early theme park entry options available in the morning, but beyond that, priority is not given to anyone. That’s why it is best to arrive as early in the day as possible and pick one park to stay in for the evening. If crowds are a concern, spending the day in Disney California Adventure Park might be your best bet. It tends to feel less congested because of its wider walkways and more open spaces. Plus, if you’d like to ring in the New Year with a toast, that is the theme park that serves alcohol. Keep in mind that the
Downtown Disney District can offer great views of fireworks, too, particularly the Catal Restaurant terrace.
I hope this information helps you plan, Matthew, and that you have a Happy New Year at the Disneyland Resort with your wife! Please feel free to visit us again with any other questions you may have as your trip planning continues.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
