My wife and I are planning an Oct 2022 trip without our kids. We don't want to be up early and are wondering if Genie+ is worth the purchase. Can we do LL for rides without having G+. We want to relax and enjoy this trip without rushing around.

    Welcome to planDisney, William!

So you're planning a kid-free, adults-only, husband and wife trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth? That's probably the most genius idea I've ever heard! You couldn't see me, but when I saw your question, I took my hands off of my keyboard and just started clapping. Bravo, sir! I'm sure you and your wife are going to have a blast!

Your question is a good one. The answer is going to be subjective. It really depends on you and your wife. We're all different, after all. But let me give you a quick overview and then offer my personal opinion.

Purchasing Disney Genie+ will upgrade your park ticket to include "phenomenal cosmic powers." These powers enable you to select Lightning Lane entrances at over 40 attractions throughout the Theme Parks. These entrances allow you to skip the regular standby lines and enjoy the attractions without waiting as long. Starting at 7:00 AM on the day of your visit, you'll be able to make your first Lightning Lane selection. Once you enjoy that attraction, or two hours after making your selection (whatever comes sooner), you can then make another Lightning Lane selection. You can keep doing that throughout the day until there are no more Lightning Lane selections available. Right now, Disney is saying that Guests can expect to enter two to three attractions or experiences per day using the Lightning Lane entrance if the first selection is made early in the day.

Is that worth it to you, William? Due to having young kids, I'm an early riser. So getting up at 7:00 AM to make a Lightning Lane selection isn't an issue for me. My wife and I also love to get to the theme park for opening and stay until it closes. But if you're wanting this vacation to be more relaxing and less rushing around, Disney Genie+ might not be worth it. You'll just have to adjust your expectations in terms of how many attractions you'll experience.

I will say that it might depend on what park you're visiting on that particular day. For example, I think Disney Genie+ is really helpful for Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios. So you might want to consider purchasing it for one or two days.

Another option is to purchase Individual Lightning Lane entrances. These are available for some of the more high-demand attractions in the Theme Parks. These attractions usually have longer wait times, however, you can purchase Individual Lightning Lane entrances to bypass the regular standby line. You can use this service with or without purchasing Disney Genie+. However, even if you have Disney Genie+, Individual Lightning Lanes do cost extra. The cost of each Individual Lightning Lane varies by attraction. You can book up to two Individual Lightning Lane entrances per day per Guest. Just be aware that there are a limited amount of Individual Lightning Lane entrances available each day. They are available for purchase at 7:00 AM if you're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel or when the theme park opens if you're staying offsite.

I hope that's helpful, William. Feel free to stop by planDisney again if you have any other questions!
