Hiya Patrick,
Welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited to be in on the surprise and helping you plan this out-of-the-world duo of
Savi's Workshop-Handbuilt Lightsabers and
Droid Depot. My Han Solo needs to take some pointers from you; surprise experiences are definitely the way to any Star Wars fanatics' heart!
First, yes, you can make the reservations and have her be the builder without her name being on the reservation. When you check-in, the Cast Member will usually ask who the builder will be, and you can just tell them it is your wife. One tip to remember when you do this is to make sure that before you make your reservation, you
update your Family and Friends list so that you only share plans you have in common. You will have to manually go into
My Disney Experience to make this change because it is not the default setting (if you were concerned, the system wouldn't notify your wife of the change). This will make it so that your wife cannot see your surprise before you share it with her. Another option for keeping your plans a secret involves calling a Cast Member. If you would like, you can ask a Cast Member for assistance with making reservations. You would provide your wife's details, and they would book the reservation and provide a confirmation number. From there, you can use the confirmation information at check-in! Personally, I prefer the former option. It allows you to make changes more easily without calling and waiting for an available Cast Member because it would be linked to your My Disney Experience account. If you prefer the Cast Member route, the number you will need is 407-939-7529.
I hope this was helpful, Patrick! Once your wife crafts her lightsaber, I highly recommend hanging out until the sun goes down during your trip. This would allow you the prime time to get night photos with her lightsaber next to the Millennium Falcon. The pictures always turn out incredible because the night sky allows the light from the Kyber crystals to really shine.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
