Hi Dennis,
Welcome to planDisney!
Dennis, it sounds like you’ve done all the right preparation for your upcoming trip! Within the
My Disney Experience mobile app, as long as you and your wife are sharing your plans with one another and all of the tickets are linked, you should be okay to scan either phone at the
Lightning Lane entrance.
During family vacations, it’s sometimes easier to split up so everyone can do what they’re most excited about. When my family splits up to go on their own adventures within the Theme Parks, we make sure at least one person has the information in My Disney Experience and everyone has a
MagicBand or physical ticket just in case.
For your second question, I would say it depends. You can definitely scan your My Disney Experience mobile app for a Lightning Lane for another member of your party since their ticket and
Genie+ or Individual Lightning Lane reservations are in your account. You’d just go to the Lightning Lane entrance, scan your phone, and wait for that member of your party near the exit. When it comes to the MagicBands, it might be easier for each individual to have their own since it’s synched up to each individual’s name. So in your case, your MagicBand will probably not pick up your son’s Lightning Lane reservation since it’ll be under his name.
Remember that you can always go to
Guest Services to get a physical ticket or card that can act as a MagicBand. My family members have forgotten their MagicBands in the past and received these cards to use for easy Theme Park entry and riding attractions. The Cast Member will just scan your My Disney Experience Mobile app or MagicBand, they’ll ask for the guest’s name, they’ll synch up the card, and everyone will be on their way to the magic!
I hope this “Bit By Bryanna” is useful as you plan for your time at the Walt Disney World Resort.
