Hi there, Jim, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
I'm so glad you stopped by with this question now, because Disney announced a few weeks ago that the
Walk Around the World bricks will start being retired in the coming months as the entrance to
Magic Kingdom Park is refurbished. I know lots of families bought bricks to commemorate special trips or events (like a honeymoon!), so it's important that Guests know their bricks won't be there much longer.
Jim, in making the announcement, Disney also said they're making souvenir bricks available to Guests who purchased one during the program's active period. The Disney Parks Blog notes that you can visit City Hall inside Magic Kingdom Park or Guest Relations at Disney Springs and provide your name and hometown. You'll then get a voucher you can use to buy a new commemorative brick to keep.
If your Walk Around the World Brick hasn't been removed yet, you may be able to get one last look by stopping at the Guest Relations window just outside the entrance to Magic Kingdom Park to see if a Cast Member there can help you identify the general location.
Sounds like it's time to start a new family tradition at the Walt Disney World Resort, Jim! My fellow
Disney Parks Moms Panelists shared some of their own family traditions - maybe they'll give you an idea or two!
Jim, I hope this helps you experience those magical Disney memories all over again with your children. If you have any other questions, please come see us again!
Keep Disney Dreaming,
Kathy K.
