David from WA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

My wife and I are DVC members, going in December, hoping to score some Moonlight Magic passes for December 15th. We have two kids who live in the area, but will not be on our resort reservation. Can we still take them with us to the event?

    Hiya, David!

Welcome to planDisney! How exciting that you are planning to enjoy one of my favorite perks of Disney Vacation Club Membership - a Moonlight Magic event. Having exclusive access for Members to enjoy specialty treats, attractions with low wait times, fun-filled entertainment, and character meet and greets is like enjoying the most magical block party on earth.

David, I spoke with Member Services today, who confirmed that eligible Members can register for themselves and up to four additional Guests for Moonlight Magic (or up to the number of Guests on your room reservation, should it exceed that number) per Membership. So, since you and your wife are on the Resort reservation, you would be able to add up to three additional Guests - for a total of five Guests - attending the event. This means that your two kids who live in the area can join you, even if they are not on your Resort reservation.

Now, David, if you have a qualifying Resort stay, the December 15th Early Registration opened today.  It is past the Resort modification date (which was  September 28th), so you can't modify your reservation at this time to make changes to the number of Guests you can bring with you to Moonlight Magic. However, you should be able to register your two children to join you since you would be under the four additional Guest limit.

If you do not have a qualifying Resort stay booked, then you can register for the December 15th Moonlight Magic when General Registration opens on October 9th at 11 AM EST.

To clarify, a confirmed qualifying Resort reservation made by using their Membership with Vacation Points, Reservation Points, or cash, and by the Resort reservation/modification deadline (which was September 28th). If you have that, you should have gotten an email with a link for registration or you can visit the Moonlight Magic page to register now. Be sure to have your Member number ready and have pre-selected which Member listed on the Membership will be in attendance to check in for the event.

To enter the virtual waiting room, an eligible Member number must be entered. This process secures your Membership a random place in line. Do not refresh the page as access is limited.
When it’s your turn, you’ll be sent to the registration form to sign up for a night of Moonlight Magic!

One final thing is that when you arrive at the event on December 15th, the registered Member and all of their Guests must be present. You will be required to present your Digital Member ID Card and your photo ID and you must enter the event together.

I hope this helps you, David! If you have any further Disney Vacation Club questions, journey back here to see me. I'll be right here, working on my roar.

    See ya real soon!
