My wife and I had My Disney Experience on our mobile phones 6 months ago when we last visited Disney World. We are returning, and now updates to the app make it no longer support our phones. What do we do now?

    Hi, Christine! Welcome to planDisney!

I'm so sorry you're having trouble using the My Disney Experience mobile app on your phones since the latest updates. I know it can be frustrating when something you've been able to use in the past no longer works the way it should. Let's see if we can get your plans up and running again!

According to the Walt Disney World website, your phone needs to have iOS 13.0 and above for iPhones, or Android 8.0 and above for the My Disney Experience mobile app to operate most efficiently. Older versions of the app will still work, they'll just be missing some of the functionality. If you happen to have backed up your phones prior to the update, you can try restoring them to see if you can reinstall the older version. You should find helpful tutorials for doing that on the internet.

If you can't restore the older version, you actually can go tech-free in the theme parks. Your MagicBand or Key to the World Card will work for park admission and to open your Resort hotel room door, as well as scan your Disney PhotoPass photos. All attractions except one still have stand-by queues to ride, so you won't need to worry about making reservations while you're there. If you're hoping to scurry with the Little Chef on Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, you can try to join the second virtual queue of the day by seeking out Guest Experience Team members at one of the blue tents throughout the parks.

While you won't be able to use the Mobile Ordering service for quick-service meals, you can still order in person at the restaurants. Also, any dining reservations you've made before your visit are still in place, so you can just check in at the podium and get ready for your delicious Disney feast.

If you're missing theme park information like attraction wait times, there are third-party services like Touring Plans that can help fill in some of the blanks for you.

Christine, I really hope this helps give you some options for your next vacation. We can always look on the bright side like Snow White and believe that this will be your most relaxing visit yet!

Thank you so much for stopping by to see us, Christine. I wish you and your wife a magical vacation with lots of faith, trust, and pixie dust!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
