My wife and I are coming to Disneyland on June 18 and it's her 30 birthday. It is also my first time at Disneyland. Is there anything I can do to make the day extra special for her?

    Hello, Brett!

Oh boy! I wish I could be a spouse as thoughtful and kind-hearted as you. Congratulations to your dear wife on her upcoming milestone birthday. And I am so happy for you too. A first visit to the Disneyland Resort is a very special occasion to remember.

Coincidentally, my wife and I are also currently planning a visit to the Disneyland Resort for her birthday later this year. So I asked her what she thought would be a special way to celebrate. Of course, we talked about possibly purchasing a pair of Mickey Ear hats with custom embroidery added to them to personalize a tribute to your wife on her birthday and to you on your first visit. But my wife reminded me that most women seem to prefer wearing ear bands rather than ear hats. So she came up with an even better suggestion. At Plaza Point, a year-round holiday shop on Main Street, U.S.A., artistic Cast Members personalize ornaments with beautiful hand-painted artwork. Besides ornaments, Plaza Point also usually has simple ear bands available for purchase that are perfect for applying beautifully-rendered personalization. A special birthday message on a beautiful set of ears would make the perfect souvenir to enjoy for years to come.

Tony’s Tip: Naturally, you’re going to want to enjoy some of the more common ways of celebrating birthdays at the Disneyland Resort. Complimentary celebration buttons are available at most Guest Relations locations. They may even have a special button to commemorate your first visit as well! Wear those buttons throughout the theme parks to let Cast Members know to share happy birthday wishes all day long.

I recommend booking dining reservations to enjoy a delicious meal to celebrate the occasion as well. If a preferred dining location doesn’t currently have available reservations, check the restaurant’s listing in the Disneyland mobile app to see if they are accepting requests to join the walk-up list. For popular locations, such as Blue Bayou Restaurant, be sure to join the walk-up list in the app as early as it will allow you on the day of your visit to have the greatest chance of getting a table.

Brett, I’m thrilled you and your wife will be celebrating at The Happiest Place on Earth! I hope you both have a very magical time!
