Me and my wife will be booking a DW vacation in Jan. for my daughters 5th B-day. We have heard that the dining portions are large. We are not big eaters, so, can we purchase just 2 adult plans and have our daughter eat off of our plates?

Hi Mark!  Your daughter will be thrilled to celebrate her 5th Birthday at Walt Disney World - how special! When adding the Disney Dining Plan to your vacation package, everyone listed on the reservation must purchase the Dining Plan, meaning it would not be possible to just purchase it for you and your wife and leave your daughter off of the plan.  The good news is that it is very reasonably priced for kids 3 - 9, so it shouldn't add too much to your costs.  You never know - maybe there will be a free dining plan offer for that time of year, as there has been in the past.  If this happens,  you could modify your existing reservation to take advantage of that offer.

Be sure to ask for a free Happy Birthday button for your daughter when you check in to your Walt Disney World resort.  She can wear it throughout your vacation, and it often brings extra special greetings and attention from the Cast Members!

Please let me know if you need any other help with planning your Walt Disney World birthday celebration for your daughter, Mark.  I would love to help you.  Have a magical day!
