Hi there, Cheryl!
First things first. I want to thank you for the sacrifices you and your family made so your husband could serve this great country. I'm so sorry he paid such a high price for his dedication and commitment.
Walt Disney World does have s
pecial offers, deals, and discounts for eligible military veterans and their spouses or widows. There are currently
discounts on theme park tickets, discounts on
Disney Resorts Collection hotel stays, and for some people, access to
Shades of Green Armed Forces Recreation Center, which is located on Disney property.
So let's look at what eligible means. There are a few different ways you may be eligible. Your husband would have to have been retired from 20+ years of service, and you must have been married during those 20 years. Or, if your husband passed away from his service-related disability while on active duty, you are also eligible. Another way to qualify is if your husband was 100% service-connected disabled, permanent and total, which would have been on his Military ID card as DAVPRM. In each situation, you would have to have remained un-remarried and have a Military ID card of your own.
Cheryl, if you fall into any of these eligibility categories, you can order the Military Salute Tickets through Shades of Green, but they are taking a few weeks to get to you. You'll want to fill out the
ticket request form as soon as you can. And don't forget, you'll have to have the tickets purchased in order to book
theme park reservations.
I wish you a practically perfect visit, Cheryl!
Anna
