Hi Stephanie,
I'm so glad you brought your question to us here at planDisney! Let's see if we can get your MagicBand linked to your My Disney Experience app so you are ready for your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Now, there are a couple of things that we need to work through depending on which MagicBand you are trying to link, so let’s get started!
If your MagicBand or MagicBand+ is associated with your upcoming stay at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, your MagicBand should already be linked to your profile and your My Disney Experience, but that doesn’t seem to be the issue you are having, so let’s try something else.
If you have a MagicBand+ or Magic Band that you purchased from a retail location or online from ShopDisney, you’ll need to follow these instructions to pair it with your My Disney Experience app to enable all of the spectacular features:
1) If you have a MagicBand+, make sure you have it powered on by pressing the button on the back, in the lower right corner. One helpful hint, typically a MagicBand+ is only partially charged when you receive it. I’ve found this process to go more smoothly with a fully charged MagicBand+, so I recommend making sure it is fully charged.
2) Then, in the app, find the menu button in the lower right corner (it is the three stacked lines on the bottom right of app) and select “MagicBands and More” (you may need to scroll down to find this), and then select “Link Your MagicBand or Card” (again, you may need to scroll down to find it).
3) Now, select “Tap” and then follow the instructions. You should be able to “Open Scanner to Link” and simply hold the center icon of your MagicBand+ or MagicBand to the upper section of the back of your phone to link it. This sometimes doesn’t work on the first (or even second) try so I recommend that you make sure that you are making contact with the upper back or the top end of your mobile device.
And finally, if the "Tap" approach doesn't work, follow steps 1 and 2 above, but this time select "Type ID" and type in the ID number found on the back of your MagicBand or MagicBand+.
Stephanie, if these tips aren’t getting you linked, please contact a Guest Services Cast Member who works directly with MagicBand and My Disney Experience troubleshooting at 407-939-4357, and they will be happy to help.
One last piece of magical advice: after you are linked up, don’t forget to pack your MagicBand or MagicBand+! I recommend you have your MagicBand in your park bag so you can use it even if your hotel room isn’t ready upon your arrival. Just leave your other luggage with Bell Services and head to your favorite park! Your My Disney Experience app will happily notify you when your room is ready.
I hope this has been helpful! If you have any other questions, Stephanie, feel free to let me know. I'm wishing you many special memories during your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth!
Shannon
