Why won’t the Disneyland app allow me to link their magic key passes by their pass numbers.

    Hi there, Joyce,

Uh oh! Has Experiment 626 (aka Stitch) been causing glitches? My wife and I have done some experimentation with this question. I’d be happy to share with you the processes that we have followed. I hope we can help get this cleared up for you.

Our Magic Key passes are managed on my Disneyland Resort account. From the ☰ feature menu of the Disneyland mobile app, I opened the Tickets and Passes screen on my phone. From the tickets and passes screen on my wife’s phone, we used the “Link Tickets & Passes” button to start the process. (Tap the ‘+’ button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen if the “Link Tickets & Passes” button isn’t showing.) The most straightforward way to link a pass was to use the “Camera” option on my wife’s phone to scan the barcode displayed on my phone. That worked like a charm, of course.

But you are interested in linking using the pass ID. So we deleted the pass from my wife’s account and tried again using the “Type ID” option. Typing the pass ID displayed on my phone into the ID Number field above the “Link Media” button on my wife’s phone also worked for us. If that type of process is not currently working for you, then maybe Stitch really is up to no good!

Another option that can work is using a screenshot of the Magic Key pass from the Tickets and Passes screen on a phone. Sending a screenshot in a message sent to another person is handy if the other person you are linking with isn’t directly with you. They can have the screenshot displayed on another device to scan using the camera of a device with the Disneyland app. Or the pass ID can be typed in as transcribed from the screenshot. Some mobile phones even allow you to copy text from photos or screenshots which can then be pasted into the ID Number field in the Disneyland app’s Link to Account screen.

For some of these tricky problems, having someone take a look in person can be a great help. A great resource to find is a Cast Member at one of the several Guest Relations locations. I’m always very impressed by the magical way they help resolve things. Hmm. I wonder if they borrowed the Fairy Godmother’s wand?

Thanks for visiting us at planDisney, Joyce. If you have any other Disney Parks questions, we are happy to help.

    Have a magical time,
    ~Tony
