Hi, there!
Welcome to planDisney, Madi. I'm so glad you stopped by! It sounds like you're planning a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. And with a little one (or more!) in tow! How exciting.
As a mom of three, a stroller has been a must-have for my family's Disney vacations for a long time now. Pixie-dusted adventures in the theme parks require a lot of walking, and little legs tire quickly! To be honest, I'm not sure why stroller wagons are not permitted in the theme parks. But I can tell you that I have always felt that my family's best interests, including our health and safety, have been a priority to the Cast Members at the Walt Disney World Resort. With that in mind, my best guess is that the restriction is safety-related, but nonetheless,
stroller wagons are included on the list of Prohibited Items on the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules, regardless of the stroller wagon's dimensions.
I'm sure you're frustrated. I mean, moms have enough to worry about, right? Though not ideal for your family, perhaps, I do have a few solutions for you. One is to
rent a single or double stroller directly from Walt Disney World. Stroller rental locations are in each of the four theme parks and Disney Springs. If you purchase a Length of Stay rental ticket, you can save a bit of money during your stay! Another option is to rent a single or double stroller from an Orlando-based rental company like ScooterBug. This option is my preference for a few reasons. First, ScooterBug offers the City Mini Double in their fleet of stroller rentals. The City Mini Double is my absolute favorite stroller to use on a Disney vacation! This set of wheels features spacious seats that recline completely flat (perfect for a theme park snooze) and extra-large shades that keep my little one well-protected from the Orlando sun. This stroller folds quickly and easily, which is important if you plan to use bus transportation. What I also like about renting from an offsite vendor is that you can keep the rental with you for the length of your stay. My kids are always exhausted by the end of the day, so I'm always glad that we have our stroller on hand after we've exited the theme parks and we're on our way back to our Disney Resort hotel.
No matter what you decide to use for your visit, be prepared to mark your stroller so you can spot it quickly in a sea of others. I always attach Mickey Mouse ribbon to the handlebar of our stroller, but I've seen Guests use nameplates, balloons, and even battery-operated twinkle lights!
I hope this was helpful, Madi. Please let me know if you have any other questions about traveling to the
Walt Disney World Resort with little ones! I'd love to help you plan a magical visit.
