    Why isn’t my ticket available for genie plus

    Hey there, Kara!  Welcome to planDisney.

    Disney Genie+ is an add-on feature that allows Guests to reserve Lightning Lane access to select attractions, one at a time, saving time waiting in line over the traditional standby queue.

    As a regular Guest myself, I have no way of knowing what type of ticket you hold, and I wouldn't want to speculate as to why you are having trouble adding Disney Genie+ to your ticket.  Let me begin by assuring you that all Guests are eligible to purchase Disney Genie+.  If you have already tried modifying your ticket to add Disney Genie+ in advance and are not seeing that option, no worries -- none of my tickets are showing the option either.

    Guests can purchase Disney Genie+ on a daily basis on the date they would like to use it, anytime after midnight, in the My Disney Experience mobile app.  This is what I did on my most recent trip.  Because Guests can make their first Lightning Lane selection beginning at 7:00 am on the day of their theme park visit, I purchased Disney Genie+ for my party through the app just a few minutes prior to that.  It truly only took a few seconds to select my party and complete my purchase.  Having a payment method stored to "My Profile" in your My Disney Experience account will help save time when completing your purchase.  To be honest, I prefer purchasing Disney Genie+ on a daily basis rather than adding it to all days of my ticket in advance.  That way I can decide depending on my plans for the day if I'll actually need to use it.  For example, one of the days of my trip was devoted to noshing my way around World Showcase at EPCOT, sampling bites and sips at the outdoor festival kitchens.  On the day of my visit, the booths opened at 11:00 am, so we enjoyed a couple of attractions with low wait times before beginning our culinary adventure.  I definitely did not need Disney Genie+ on that day, so I'm glad I hadn't already purchased it.  In my opinion, the only advantage to purchasing Disney Genie+ in advance is the few moments of time you'll save instead of purchasing it each day of your visit.  There is no limit to the number of Guests who are allowed to purchase, so Disney Genie+ will not sell out for the day.  All Guests, whether they have purchased Disney Genie+ in advance or on the date of their visit, can make their first Lightning Lane selection at 7:00 am.
