why is Disneyland closing early on February 14th and February 16th? Is there a separate ticketed event?

    Hi there Cyndi!

Welcome to planDisney! I must compliment you on your research skills, because the Disneyland Resort does indeed close early on February 14th and 16th due to the Disneyland After Dark special event - Sweethearts' Nite. Regular park hours end at 8pm on those days and guests who have purchased a special ticket for this event may begin to enjoy the park starting at 6pm.

This happens to be one of my favorite events to attend with my husband. We love it because the limited ticket sales allow for very short wait times on all of the rides and dining locations. And an added bonus is all of the event-only menu items, unique PhotoPass opportunities, and the special parade and light show offered, all in the name of la romance! Unfortunately, tickets for Sweetheart's Nite are currently sold out for this year.

Cyndi, have you considered attending one of the other Disneyland After Dark events? This year for the first time in forever, Princess Nite is being featured at the resort! As of the time that I am writing this, there are still special event tickets available for March 7th and 9th, 2023.

But I suspect you are interested in visiting the Disneyland parks on these dates to celebrate l’amour, am I right? Well Cyndi, you’re in luck. I happen to be a bit of a Love Expert, and whether you are attending a special event or not, whenever you visit Disneyland, love is an open door!

My Prince Charming and I have been enjoying the season of Valentines for several years before the special ticketed events, and I can tell you, the seasonal treats and special decorations that take over this famously Happiest Place on Earth never disappoint. And of course, if you’re stressed, it’s fine dining I suggest. The Blue Bayou Restaurant is, in my opinion, the most romantic place to celebrate true love when you’re in the parks. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance online.

And remember, if you book a room at one of the Disneyland Hotels, you’ll get to enjoy direct access to the parks as well as early entry.  Not to mention, you can enjoy a starry night at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar with your One True Love.  A stay in one of the iconic Disneyland Hotel themed signature suites is an enchanting experience on its own! Any room will leave you and your special someone feeling transported to a magical time which will turn this season into an everlasting memory.

I hope these ideas help you make all your dreams come true for you and your One True Love. If you have any follow-up questions, you are welcome to write me back directly now that you’ve got a friend in me!

I look forward to seeing you celebrate your Happily Ever After at Disneyland!
