Why does dining plan only include appetizer for ages 3 to 9?

Typically, kid meals already include an "appetizer". It's not the kind of appetizer that adults would order! And the kids meals are small portioned so adding an appetizer type food to the offerings helps make a more balanced meal.

Take a look at the 50's Prime Time Cafe menu for kids. The appetizer choice is chicken noodle soup or a tossed salad. The kids "appetizer" is really served as a side dish rather than as a pre-entree item.
