Hi Michael!
Welcome to planDisney! It's so good to see you hEAR, and thank you so much for sending this Disneyland Resort Magic Key Passholder question to us!
Oh Michael! I'm so excited that you're thinking of extending your current Southern California Resident 3-Day promotional Ticket into 12 months of magic by upgrading to a
Magic Key! At this time, the functionality of the Disneyland.com website does not support ticket upgrades. However, I have two ways that you'll be able to complete this upgrade purchase! The first is you can use your
My Disneyland Account login information on anyone else's phone. As long as they are logged out of the
Disneyland Mobile App you can log in, pick the pass, complete the purchase, and then log out. Just remember to not save your password to their device or change your password on your computer later and you should be good to go! The second way to upgrade is to wait to make the switch until you're in the parks in person. There are Cast Members in the Ticket Booths in The Esplanade who would love to help you with this transaction.
I'm not going to lie, Michael, both ways to make this upgrade sound kind of risky. The pro of waiting until you're at Mickey's house in person is
if you were to upgrade now through the App you'll lose the existing Park Pass Reservation for the third day of use on your SoCal 3-Day ticket. (This is because day-tickets pull from different pools of Park Pass Reservations than what Magic Keyholders or even Disneyland Resort Hotel guests have access to. So by switching your ticket ahead of time you'll need to remake that reservation.) However, the pro to upgrading now through the app is that (*at the time of this writing) there is still Park Pass Availability to start your Disney days in either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park on both of your coming Disney dates. Here's the helpful
Magic Key Passholder Blockout Date AND Park Pass Reservation Calendar that you'll refer to for all of your future visits.
I want to add that at this time,
the only two Keys available for purchase are the Imagine Key (which is just for Mickey's SoCal friends) as well as the Enchant Key. Another tip is that your expiration date will be 12 months from the first day that you used your 3-day SoCal ticket, not the first day that you use your new key. But you're going to love all of the benefits that come with this service, I just know it! In addition to having a literal key to Walt's original kingdom, there are
shopping and dining discounts, Disney Resort Hotel discounts just for Keyholders; there are even special limited-edition merchandise and
dining options just for keyholders! Be sure that your email address is correct in your My Disneyland Account so you won't miss a single memo. And definitely keep up with the
Disney Parks Blog and the
official planDisney Instagram account which both share all kinds of exciting Disneyland news and Keyholder heads-ups.
I hope this helped to add even more magic to your upcoming Disney Days, Michael, and if you have any more Disneyland Resort Magic Key planning questions, We're All Ears!
