Greetings, Maha, and welcome to planDisney! As a fellow Magic Key Holder, I'm happy to help you navigate the reservation system and make the most of your pass.
The best place to start will be to check the blockout dates, which vary depending on the type of Magic Key pass. To view which reservations are open for your pass type, check the
Park Reservation Availability Calendar (and select Imagine Key).
- A slash means a date is blocked out. You won't be able to get a reservation on this date with your Magic Key type.
- A circle with a slash means that no more reservations are available. Plans change all the time, so there's a chance this date may open up as reservations are modified and released. Just keep checking back. I've even had luck getting a reservation the night before.
- The icons represent that park reservations are available (blue circle for California Adventure and pink castle for Disneyland).
If you see an opening for a date you want,
make the reservation as soon as possible to secure your spot, especially if it's a popular day of the week, like Friday. As an
Imagine Key Holder, you can make two reservations at a time, so you will want to be strategic about selecting your dates. If there's a date you really want, maybe use one of your slots to reserve it farther out and keep the other slot open for booking last-minute reservations. Take a look through the calendar and figure out what works best for you.
Maha, did you know that you can
park hop with your Magic Key pass? If you’re visiting before 11 a.m., start at the park on your reservation, then hop to the other park after 11 a.m. If you arrive after 11 a.m., you can enter either park regardless of your reservation.
And remember: You can
modify or cancel reservations up until 11:59 p.m. the day before. If you don't show up for a reservation, you'll get a no-show. After three no-shows within 90 days, you will be unable to make new theme park reservations or modify existing ones for 30 days.
If you are interested in upgrading your pass to one that has fewer blockout dates, you can currently do so, since
Magic Key passes are still on sale (while supplies last). Once sales are paused, this will not be an option until your renewal period arrives. I
just answered a question on how to do this if you want to explore this idea further.
Maha, I realize there is a lot of information here, but I hope that it's helpful to you! If you have any other questions, please let us know. We at planDisney are always happy to help.
Wishing you a year of many magical memories at the Disneyland Resort,
Kriss
