Hi Moms! My whole family is visiting WDW in February with the bulk of them staying at Fort Wilderness. My husband and I adore the Wilderness Lodge, but cannot decide if we should stay there again (with our almost 2 yr old) or if we should try the cabins.

Hi Michelle! I have had the privilege of staying many times in both locations, Wilderness Lodge and the Fort Wilderness Cabins. Both are very unique in their own way. I don't think there is another resort on property that has a lobby that is as amazing as the Wilderness Lodge. It definitely gives you the feeling of being in one of our countries great National Parks.

The Fort Wilderness cabins offer a completely different experience. They are fully equipped with kitchens and have a separate bedroom which is nice if you want to put the two year old to bed and still stay up and watch tv or visit. Sitting out on the deck is relaxing and having the chance to grill your own meal one night is fun. A big plus for many families is having the kitchen where they can have food at their fingertips at all hours for kids and adults. The full size refrigerator far beats the small room size one in all of the other resorts.

Fort Wilderness is quite a fun experience in itself. To see deer and turkey and other animals just steps away is exciting and the quiet and peaceful atmosphere can't be found anywhere else. If you have a number of your group staying there it might be fun to try something new for this trip. Consider reserving a Golf cart which allows you to move around the large resort without having to take a bus or your car. Transportation is very easy with buses to all parks except Magic Kingdom and for that park you will head to the marina and take a boat.

Don't forget to visit Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong and the Disney stables located by Pioneer Hall. I am confident either resort will offer you an amazing vacation!
