My whole family of 13 (8 adults, 1 teen, 4 kids) is staying at the Wilderness Lodge in April is there anything you would say is a must-do here? I read in a book that you can become a flag family and raise the hotels flag is this a fun thing to do?

Hi Megan! The Wilderness Lodge is indeed a special resort. Our family was asked to be the flag family during our stay there. We all proceeded up back stairs to the top of the resort where the view was incredible. We each had a different flag to raise with the cast members help. It was a wonderful experience and was worth changing our plans for that day so we stayed at the Lodge to do this.

The Wilderness Lodge also has two of Disney's best restaurants, Whispering Canyon and Artists Point. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy them during your stay.

The resort amenities are similar to all deluxe resorts on property. They have a wonderful marina and pool and you can enjoy the long hike to Fort Wilderness to spend a few hours there if you choose. We enjoyed a great morning of fishing during our stay and couldn't keep count of the big fish we caught and released back into the waters with the help of our guide. Before we set off in the boat we had the opportunity to watch a family of otters who were playing at the waters edge. It is a resort where you just feel a bit apart from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks.

This resort also has numerous wonderful photo spots for great family photos. You can do this yourself or you can arrange for a Disney photographer to meet you there for a session. If you have questions about this possibility please call 407-934-4004.

The spa here is also a great place to relax after a busy day in the parks.
