Hi Whitney-we arrive at MCO on Aug 28 at 1:07 pm. My family of five (+mom) are staying at POR Riverside. We hope to take the Sass.boat to Downtown Disney and then head to Ft Wild. for the Chip & Dale Campfire. Is this feasible? Dinner suggestion?

    Laura:

Well, let's see....The campfire begins at 8 p.m. so let's back up from there....

I suggest allowing yourself a full hour to take a Fort Wilderness bus from Downtown Disney which gives you enough time to hop on the Orange Line at the Outpost bus stop and hop off at the Meadows Trading Post, a good football-field-away from the campfire.

You'll need a solid 1 1/2 to 2 hours for dinner.  I recommend the new T-Rex restaurant at Downtown Disney, if you've got boys in the group (make reservations at 407-939-3463, but it isn't on the dining plan.  If you're on the dining plan, check out Wolfgang Puck Cafe on the West End or Earl of Sandwich on the opposite end).  That backs us up to a 5:00 p.m. dinner reservation.

I always recommend giving yourself at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get from the airport to your resort.  An additional 30 minutes to get to the boat and ride leaves you about 1 to 2 hours for shopping and browsing at DD.  Definitely doable, just take your map of Downtown Disney that you'll receive at check-in so you won't waste time!

FYI: To get home from the campfire, I recommend taking the boat at the fort to the Magic Kingdom and catching a bus back to Port Orleans!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
