Candra:
Congrats on landing a cabin at the fort for
FREE dining! You're going to love the extra room a cabin gives you, not to mention all of the activities there. FYI: folks decorate their campsites and cabins for Christmas, so if you've got room in the trunk, throw in a few Christmas lights or a blowup to join in the spirit!
There are 28 loops, numbered from 100 to 2800. The campsite loops (100 to 2000) and cabin loops (2100 to 2800) are not interspersed on the resort's campus. If you had a bird's eye view and the resort was a clockface, the cabins are in-between 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock, roughly. The campsites make up the remaining 3/4 of the face. Personally, I like cabin loops 2100, 2200, and 2400. The 2100 loop is nearest to the Meadows Trading Post and all three are nicely wooded. This isn't a big advantage because you're visiting in the winter, but in the summer, those large pines can mean a difference of 10 degrees! (And that's why I don't care for the openness of 2300 and 2500 which are sparsely shaded, especially at the back of the loops.) Loop 2800 is the closest to the bus stop if you don't have a car to drive you to the parks and this loop houses the majority of the wheelchair-accessible cabins.
Get your request in soon, as you'll have a better chance of Disney accommodating your request. Just remember that, although they try their best, not all requests can be guaranteed. I'd recommend not only requesting a loop, but letting them know why you like it (near bus stop, middle of resort campus, etc.) That way, they can give you their best alternative if your first choice isn't available.
Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
