Cathy:
If you asked 100 veteran campers at
Fort Wilderness what their favorite loop was, you'd probably get 100 different answers... our family prefers cabins and campsites with woods or canal views, but our friends swear that the best cabin loop is 2100 so they can be "near the action" of Chip 'n' Dale's campfire and the trading post!
Just like most resorts at Disney, you can request a cabin loop or even a cabin, but Disney does not guarantee requests. I have found that I get a better loop or cabin if I describe what I'm looking for in a location, rather than being specific with a cabin/campsite number or even a loop. For example, if you have small children and want to be near a bus stop, make that request. Other requests you can make include water view, being near the RV loops, cabins that are wheelchair accessible, close to laundry facilities, near the front of the resort, just to name a few. Click
here to see a map of the fort from an aerial view. Although it doesn't include loop numbers, you can see where the cabins are located by their brown roofs along with bus stops and other amenities.
When we used the online check-in for our stay in January at the campsites, I noticed that they had a section where you could make two requests from a list of options that included specific loops and amenities like being near the pool, bus stop, woods, etc. Although I haven't used online check-in for the cabins, I would imagine that there might be a similar request area. However, I don't recommend that you wait until online check-in to put in a request. As soon as you make your reservation, let your preferences be known.
If you have any more questions about the fort, please feel free to come back and ask!
