Whether staying onsite or not, are people allowed to resort hop and if so, what is the proper way to get past the guard gate at the resorts you visit if driving by car? (i.e. what do you tell the guard to let you in?)

Hi William and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

When we need to take a break from the parks my daughter and I love to resort hop and shop and dine at resorts around the Walt Disney World Resort. We particularly love to hop on the monorail from the Magic Kingdom Park and stop at each resort to shop and possibly enjoy a treat.

When you are driving a car and want to visit a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, the proper way to handle the situation is with honesty. Tell the security guard at the gate you would like to visit the resort and shop or dine at the Quick Service location. The guard will typically issue a parking pass for an hour to three hours. There are some resorts where this is more difficult. If a resort is at capacity with their parking or they are having a special event, you can be turned away. Fortunately, there are several amazing resorts so if one is too busy you can choose another.

William, thank you for returning with another great question. I hope you'll let us know if we can help you with any other questions!
Wishing you happy planning and a magical vacation,
    Amy H.
